Sails

Sails

We are happy to interest you in an innovative program of ‘Yad Labanim’ in collaboration with the ‘Pershim’ project.

The activity on the ship enables the development of personal resilience and life skills following loss and trauma, in a relaxed, accepting and free atmosphere.

What’s in the program?

Throughout the year we will set sail, we will have the privilege of operating the ship alongside a skilled skipper, crew members and professional facilitators from the world of care. During the cruises we will experience the operation and steering of the ship with the belief that the experiences on the ship will translate into insights and changes in “real life”. We will talk, experience the sea in all its components, as well as the unique bond that will be created between the members of the group.

Why in the sea?

The sea, with its storms and calm waters, summons us to personal and group observation of what is happening, and often parallels the reality of life (more than any other therapy). The lifting of the sails on the ship, for example, symbolizes the lifting of the “inner sails” in us, the dealing with the difficulty, overcoming and choosing life after loss. Navigating and holding the steering wheel symbolize the ability to regain control of our lives amid the harsh reality. The upheavals and storms of the sea, echo the upheavals of life, the crisis we have all experienced, the feeling of pain. Our ability to overcome the jolts of the ship and navigate safely will improve the feeling of security and will be an empowering and strengthening experience.

Bereaved parents and siblings and members of the organization are entitled to register at a financial cost of NIS 40 per month.

Registrants who fall in love with the sea and sailing, will have the option for a fee to continue for 10 additional sessions, in order to obtain an international skipper’s license.

Come sail with us!
